Thank You, CBS

The ASL for America team on February 6, 2013 sent a letter to the President and CEO of the CBS corporation, thanking him for the positive coverage on American Sign Language.

Dear Mr. Moonves:

ASL for America would like to thank you and CBS for your positive coverage of American Sign Language. Our community loved seeing the distinguished and talented John Maucere on field belting out our national songs. We were also pleasantly surprised to see Pauley Perrette signing “thank you” in your commercial during the breaks.

American Sign Language is a true homegrown American language, equally as rich as English. We encourage you to continue including fluent signing role models in future programming, especially onstage and on camera during the Super Bowl, the next time you host it.

Our dream is a fully integrated viewing experience. One where viewers can reap benefits of both a fully visual language and an aural language, much like New Orleans had with Maucere’s performance on the stadium’s Jumbotron. We encourage you to solidify your position as a leading mass media company by being the first to offer this fully integrated viewing experience.

Sincerely,

Adrean Clark and Jeannette Johnson
The ASL for America Team

  1. I think that is wonderful to know of CBS positive coverage of the American Sign Language. Especially with the Super Bowl that has a national exposure. I noticed more and more people are expressing an interest in ASL.
